Northern Pride

You're an Essential Part of Northern Pride!

Who Are We? ... We're You!

Have you ever felt like you are alone in the North Bay and surrounding area? That you are the only LGBT person you know? You might be surprised to find that's not true! Northern Pride is run by LGBT friendly volunteers who understand exactly how you feel!

 Purpose

To unite the queer and queer-positive members of North Bay and surrounding area by providing social outlets and support in which to nurture our sense of community.
Northern Pride offers many things to the LGBTQ community, including personal support, discussion groups, social events, and other special events. We offer a positive and welcoming environment to everyone regardless of age, sex, gender, race, class or sexual orientation. Northern Pride is open to all queer and queer-positive community members, friends, and family.
We welcome bicurious, bisexual, dyke, homosexual, intersexual, queer, transsexual, transgender, uncertain, undecided, and straight people, (etc.), too!
On many of our web pages we use the term "queer" to represent all of the above-listed groups.

Northern Pride's Mission

Northern Pride was established in order to unite the queer and queer-positive members of North Bay and surrounding area.

There is strength in numbers, and it is the hope of Northern Pride that together with our supporters we can create a safe and welcoming city for all.

As LGBTQ individuals, our experiences in life will always be unique, but there are many different approaches to dealing with our struggles and personal barriers and Northern Pride is here for you. Our hope is that the LBGTQ community in North Bay & Area will be able to support and guide its members through social networking.

Some of your unique concerns may range from 'coming out' to your family and friends to living in a same sex relationship for the first time; or you could have questions about your sexual health or homophobia. Even buying a home with your partner, or opening your own business might bring about questions. Things like marriage, divorce, adoption, and/or social anxieties are also a few of the experiences we know members of the Queer community have to deal with, and our members may have some advice or personal experiences to share. If you need to talk to someone who understands what you're going through, our community can be a pool of resources, you need only ask. (Email us! Or come join us at the Northern Pride monthly dance/party! See Dance Schedule link for more info)

Northern Pride's hope is to establish a strong community that is our own; one that is concrete, and supports and embraces the diversity of our sexualities through social networking.

As a supporting member of the LGBTQ community, you have something valuable to offer too! I encourage you to make an appearance and show your support at the monthly dance party, where you can mingle and socialize in a safe and fun environment. Or
contact us to share your prideful ideas @  [email protected]

Operators

Northern Pride is a collective social networking organization of which you are a part. The existence and establishment of Northern Pride is based on the desires and needs of the North Bay & Area LGBTQ peoples.  As the community grows and interacts with each other on a more frequent and diverse basis, we will find different activities, events, and locations at which we can be there for each other.

Volunteers
Volunteers are an essential part of Northern Pride's functions, seeing as Northern Pride is inspired and run by its volunteers. Whether you are 16 or 50+, we welcome you with open arms and look forward to hearing your suggestions and ideas for your Northern Pride!
Your Northern Pride organization is completely dependent on your generous donations. 100% of your Northern Pride
donations go back into the events you know and love. Donation boxes have appeared at the monthly dance parties where you can drop your change and help pay for brand new ~themed parties~ that help set our dances apart from the local bar scene.
What is the Queer community known for, if not our trend-setting uniqueness?

Co-Coordinators

Caroline St-Jean

We are dedicated to the purpose and potential of Northern Pride, and there is great potential for all members to be coordinators of special events and we encourage open dialogue when it comes to new ideas and suggestions! Currently, we are working towards 'themed' monthly parties which means outrageous, new, party-friendly atmospheres, complete with decor, energetic music and coordinated attire. We look forward to the development of numerous events like these with your cooperation! Look for your Facebook Event invitations for details on monthly themes! (If you don't currently receive Northern Pride event invitations and you want to be included on the guest list, contact Caroline St Jean via Facebook and she will fix things up for ya! :) )

Former coordinator (above) with Caroline St Jean: Jessica St. Peter. Thanks, girl, for everything you've done to keep Northern Pride going over the years! We miss you. :D
